"Same Path,"

Barack Obama"s ad-makers clearly think they"ve found an aesthetic that suits their candidate. For the third time in as many weeks, the campaign is issuing a television spot that simply features Obama directly addressing viewers on the topic of pocketbook issues.
And now the campaign is doubling down with ads that are getting longer. While last week"s economic address from Obama lasted a minute, the ad released Tuesday clocks in at twice the length. With massive public concern coalescing around the current economic crisis, the strategy seems to revolve around projecting both calm and competence -- while hitting familiar campaign riffs about his middle-class tax cut and the the failure of "trickle down" economic policies.
Regarding the latter, Obama declares: "Well now we know the truth. It didn"t work. Instead of prosperity trickling down, pain has trickled up."
